What is a live online course?
A live online course is a real-time event where your classroom includes an instructor who is leading the session, the internet for slide presentations, and a telephone for dialogue.  After registering for a course, you’ll receive an email containing the web site link, phone number and password for participation in the event as well as the course outline.

Why would I want to take this course online?
Online courses are popular because they are convenient, time-effective, and cost-effective.

  • Be a student in the comfort of your home or office.
  • Commit only 60 minutes away from your busy schedule.
  • Avoid travel, commuting, parking, mileage, and other expenses.
  • Maintain your daily commitments without hiring a babysitter for a half-day, etc.

Will I be able to ask questions?
Yes, you can use online course tools (chat) to send a question at any time during the session.  And, the instructor will open the lines for live question and answer segments throughout the course.

How many people are in each session?
Courses are kept small to enhance the learning atmosphere.  No more than 12 people will be in attendance at each session.

Will I see the instructor?
No, these courses do not include video conferencing.

What immediate effects might I experience?
By the second class you will:

  • Know what your boundaries are;
  • Understand codependency in relationships; and
  • Start altering how you interact in your world.

Throughout the course you will experience development of a stronger sense of yourself in interactions as you become clearer about relationship dynamics.  You will see a lessening in reacting or over-reacting and an increase in assertive responding.

How can I make the most out of this experience?
Arrange for a quiet, private space with no interruptions during each session.  Keep background noises to a minimum (radio, television, cell phones ringing, etc.).  Practice skills and do “homework” between sessions to experience changes quickly.

What if I miss a session?
It is strongly advised that you only sign up for a course if you know you can attend all the sessions.  Each session’s material is built on the previous session’s information.  So, you may lose some value of the course once the sessions are interrupted.  We understand that at times emergencies may arise that are beyond your control.  So, for those necessities, contact the instructor to schedule a time to hear a pre-recorded audio only version of the session. A small fee may apply for the makeup.

What do I need to attend?
You will need a computer; internet access; and a phone line for listening to the instructor.
No special software is required.

Are there toll charges for the phone call?
No.

What are the guidelines for participating by phone?
If you have a “hold” feature on your phone, please do not use it during the course.  It could send out disruptive music to other participants.  All phone lines will be muted during the presentation, so that participants can hear the instructor.  The lines will be open during Q&A segments.

How do I sign up?
Review the dates and times the course is offered on the Course Schedule page of this web site.Click on the "register now" button next to the course of your choice and you will be directed to the registration page. Follow the instructions on the page for registration and payment.

What if I have to cancel after I’ve already registered?
As long as you inform us 24 hours in advance of the course’s first session, your order will be cancelled with fees deducted to cover administrative costs.

Is this online counseling?
No, these courses are only for educational purposes.  If you are seeking input from a counseling perspective, please go to www.aamft.org to find a professional near you.

What do you charge for onsite seminars?
Since each onsite seminar is tailored to the needs of the company, group, agency, department, etc., costs will vary. Contact us for further information.

Do you offer custom seminars on location for businesses or groups?
Yes.  Each seminar is tailored to the needs of the company, group, agency, department, etc.  Included in the onsite seminar is a consultation with your organization to understand your particular needs for improving the relational dynamics.  The presentation will then be customized for easier concept application and to invite a higher attendee interest.  Contact us for further information about an onsite seminar.

Do you do speaking engagements?
Yes, Patricia Sartini conducts enlightening speaking engagements for women in any setting.  She creates a relaxed atmosphere with humor where the audience can learn new, useful skills. The specific topic about women and relationships is up to you.  She will customize the presentation to meet your organization’s needs to optimize the value of the speech for your particular group. Contact us to discuss your unique speaking engagement.

Why is this just for women?
Although the relational concepts are the same for both genders, the focus of interactional change is often different for women than for men.  This requires a slightly different presentation necessary for each gender to maximize the understanding and application of the concepts.  Although men would certainly benefit from learning and applying these skills, Women & Relationships specializes in concept presentations geared toward women.
